Practical information
1. What are the Museum’s opening hours?
For opening times see the section “Opening times and access”.
2. What time are the “On track!” shows?
The shows take place at 11am and at 3pm, every weekends and bank holidays from April to September.
3. On what days is the Museum closed?
The Museum is open every day, except 25 December.
4. Who is eligible for free tickets and concessions?
Children under the age of 7, journalists and tourism professionals can get into the Villa for free (on presentation of written proof).
Children aged 7 to 17, job-seekers, teachers and students all benefit from concessions (on presentation of written proof).
5. Is there a discount for pensioners?
No. The full rate applies.
6. Is there a discount for families?
Culturespaces offers a rate tailored to families: free entry for the second child aged 7 to 17 when two adults and one child entries have been bought
7. Is the “Pass Musée” accepted?
Yes, the Cité de l’Automobile is on the list of organisations in Mulhouse who accept the “Pass Musée”.
8. What address do I need for my GPS if I want to drive to the museum?
The visitors' entrance is 15 rue de l’Epée. 192 avenue de Colmar is the postal and administrative address.
9. How can I get to the Cité de l’Automobile using public transport?
You can find the various transport links to get to the Cité de l'Automobile in the “Horaires et accès” section.
11. Can we have lunch at the Cité de l’Automobile?
Five eating areas are available in the Museum : “L’Atalante”, a gourmet restaurant ; the “Piste”, a cafeteria with a buffet service ; the “Bar” for a relaxing break and the “Café”. The “Atelier” restaurant is suitable for groups.

12. Can you eat at the ‘Atalante’ restaurant without visiting the museum?
Yes.
13. Are photos allowed?
Yes, as long as they are only for personal use.
14. I have an old car and/or car parts. Would the museum be interested?
We would advise you to contact l’Association de gestion du Musée national de l’Automobile, which is in charge of the collection of cars. You should particularly contact Richard Keller, the museum’s Chief Curator.

15. How long does the visit last?
The audio-guided tour of the Museum lasts around 2 hrs. You should allow about 2 hours 45 minutes for the 'On track!' show (from April to September, weekends and bank holidays).
16. How long does the visit with the little train last?
The visit with the little train lasts around 20 mins. It is packed full of commentaries.
17. Are the museum’s storerooms open to visitors?
No, they are closed to the general public. If you want to visit them, you will have to ask the museum’s curator for permission.
18. How many cars are on display in the museum?
Around 400 vehicles are on display, with a further 200 in the storerooms.

19. How can I get to the Cité du Train from the Cité de l’Automobile?
When you leave the Cité de l’Automobile car park, turn right. At the 4th set of traffic lights turn left and follow the ‘Musée français du chemin de fer’ signs.
20. It the Museum accessible to people with reduced mobility?
Yes completely.
21. Are pushchairs permitted in the Museum?
Yes.
22. Can I come to the Museum with my dog?
No, animals are not permitted on the site, apart from guide dogs.
23. Is there a cloakroom available?
Yes. You will have to pay €5 to store your personal belongings.
24. Is parking available for visitors?
A large car park (pay and display) is available to visitors in front of the museum.
25. Can a campervan park in the museum’s car park?
Yes, you can park campervans, buses and cars.

26. Can I reserve my ticket online?

27. What should I do if I have a problem when buying my tickets online?
If you have encountered problems when buying your tickets online, or when printing them, please contact our partner GetATicket who is in charge of registering payments, providing your name, email address and any other useful information relating to your order (date of purchase, date of visit, etc.).

28. My order was confirmed, but I did not receive a confirmation email.
First of all, check that the email is not in your junk email or spam folder. If you did not receive an email on the day of your order although your order was confirmed, you may have entered your email address incorrectly. To receive a new email, contact our partner GetATicket, providing your name, email address and any other useful information relating to your order (date of purchase, date of visit, etc.).

29. Can I change the visit date I chose when I ordered online?
No. As stipulated in the general terms and conditions of sale, tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded. So be careful when ordering, as you cannot change the date of your visit once the transaction has been completed.
30. Can I collect my tickets bought online directly from the Museum?
No. The tickets must be printed at home as they will be checked. They cannot be collected at the Museum on the day of visit. Printing the order confirmation cannot under any circumstances be used as an admission ticket.

34. Can we buy products from the Museum shop by mail order?
A selection of major works is available from the online bookshop.
Groups and schools
35. What is the minimum number needed to form a group?
A group is made up of 20 people or more.
37. Is it necessary to make a booking for groups?
You will need to make a booking by email - . We cannot guarantee that groups who arrive without a booking will be allowed into the museum.
38. Can groups have lunch at the Cité de l'Automobile?
The “Atelier” restaurant is suitable for groups visiting the museum.

39. How can I get hold of information on the cars exhibited at the Cité de l’Automobile?
Full descriptions of the cars are provided on the website in the “The collections” section.
Press / Publication
40. I am a journalist, how can I get hold of pictures?
The Museum’s pictures are online on the website, in the Press section. A password is required to access the pictures. You can request access by completing a form and sending it to the communications department.
Press releases and kits are freely accessible.
41. I am an editor (or currently writing a book), how can I obtain a picture of the Cité de l’Automobile to illustrate my work?
The photographs online on the Museum’s website are made available for private use only. Their professional use is subject to current legislation and compliance with the copyright and rights of use covering the images. Any use of a picture for commercial purposes must be the subject of a request to the Culturespaces Photo-library department.
